About Helping Hearts Horse Ranch
Why Horses?
Horses are social, relational, and honest. Because they are masterful at reading and communicating through emotions and energy, horses can see the feelings we try to hide- they respond to the real us. Horses help us slow down and offer us the profound gift of presence. Horses invite us to be still, to rest, and to find meaningful connection. Horses promote emotional awareness, emotion regulation, self-control, and impulse control. In order to achieve the greatest results, most activities are conducted on the ground, rather than riding.
Who might benefit from our mentoring services with the horses:
Anyone age 10+ who is dealing with
· Grief/loss
· Trauma/ abuse
· Suicide risk
· Substance abuse
· Anxiety/depression
· Homelessness/ poverty
· Group home/ foster care/ adoption
· Post-traumatic stress
· Poor self-control and/or irritability, agitation, and impulsivity
· Peer pressure/ Social anxiety
· Stress
· Test anxiety
We are privileged to serve anyone aged 10-100 and their families free of charge at the ranch. While our target audience is youth and women in crisis, all are welcome.
